Day 1Asmara - Keren

Arrive early in the morning in Asmara, and our driver will wait at the airport to take you to your hotel (ASMARA, Crystal Hotel or similar). After breakfast, we will visit some exciting places in Asmara before going to Keren. In the afternoon, we travel via the main highway Asmara – Keren through Serejeqa to the city of Keren.

Keren is the second-largest city in Eritrea. It is situated around 91 kilometres northwest of Asmara at an elevation of 1,390 meters above sea level. It has a moderate climate. The tarmac road, built by the Italians, is like a hairpin curved out from mountainous plateaus.

OVERNIGHT IN KEREN, Sarina Hotel Or Similar

Day 2Keren - Massawa

The day begins with a visit to the colourful Keren market, which takes place every Monday. The lively market consists of camels and cattle. Keren is well known for the fiercest battles between the Commonwealth and the Italian forces in 1941. Keren’s fall into the hands of the advancing Commonwealth Army signalled the end of the Italian occupation of Eritrea.

Visitors will also visit the war cemeteries in Italy and the Common Wealth, the famous Mariam Dearit Temple, which is bent out of a baobab tree. In the afternoon, we leave Keren and head to the Red Sea coast and the port city of Massawa – the pearl of the Red Sea.

OVERNIGHT IN MASSAWA, Grand Dahlak Hotel Or Similar

Day 3Massawa City Tour

Start early in the morning boat trip to Green Island, the most accessible island from Massawa, consisting of the beach and mangrove swamp.

Back to Massawa enjoys a mix of Turkish and Italian Architects, an evident indication of the Ottoman and Italian colonial history.
To name a few, an old Turkish Royal residence and The Mosque of the Companions is Dating to the early 7th century CE. It is believed to be the first mosque in the world. A terrific attraction to many visitors
The famous Gurgusum coastline is just one of the world’s finest coastlines. It is clean as well as secure. Visitors can delight in swimming.

OVERNIGHT IN MASSAWA, Grand Dahlak Hotel Or Similar

Day 4Massawa - Ghindae - Asmara

After breakfast, one last walk to admire Massawa and back to Asmara, which we reach in the afternoon. Leisure for a walk to discover Asmara on your own. You will be transferred to the airport for departure at a suitable time for your flight.

Solo Traveller

We recommend this city tour to all travelers who are planning to visit Eritrea. It’s fun and full of nice memories. A driver guide, Robel has done his job well. I feel that I was with my friend when I roamed around with him.
